Why We Built This Site
Illinois gives the public broad access to court records. The hard part is figuring out which Cook County office holds the file. The Clerk of the Circuit Court holds civil, criminal, traffic, family, probate, juvenile, chancery, and county case files. The Cook County Clerk holds vital records, elections, and board records. The Sheriff manages the jail roster and supports older cash-bond cases. The Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois General Assembly publish the underlying rules and statutes. This site pulls the contact details, search portals, fee schedules, and request steps into one place.
What You Will Find Here
- Records pages by type: court records, criminal records, inmate records, warrant records, marriage and divorce, probate, traffic court records, and more.

- Search walkthroughs: step-by-step guides for the Clerk online docket, the CCC Portal, the Sheriff's Individual in Custody Locator, and Illinois statewide databases.
- Public records help: how to file an Illinois FOIA request with a Cook County agency and what to expect for response time.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to the Circuit Court of Cook County, the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Cook County Clerk, the Cook County Sheriff, or any Illinois state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with on this page or anywhere on the site:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf.
- We cannot issue certified copies of any Cook County court document or vital record.
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you.
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now.
Only the issuing court or Cook County office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When a visitor uses one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this site free. We do not control what those tools charge or what shows up in their results.
Keeping Information Current
Cook County offices move. Hours change. Phone numbers get reassigned. The Clerk's modernization push and the post-September-2023 pretrial reform have both changed how cases move through the system. We update pages as we hear about changes, but gaps happen. Before you drive to the Daley Center or a suburban courthouse, call ahead first.
